The kitchen is the heart of the house. It’s a central room at meal time. It may be the most popular room in the home when you throw a party. If walls could talk, your kitchen walls would most likely have a lot to say.  That’s why you need your kitchen cabinet design to mirror your family and it’s personality.

Kitchen cabinets can come in a host of colors. Typically, they are stained in a manner which best enhances the grain of the individual wood they are made from.   Woods with a lighter grain look ideal in light stains, while ones with more pronounced grain more often than not look better with dark stains. Interestingly enough, the resulting application of a particular stain will be different depending on the kind of wood it is applied to. So if you use a dark stain on a maple cabinet, it will look a lot different when applied to an oak cabinet.

Modern kitchens today are colorful and many are breaking with the typical wood stain kitchen cabinet design and choosing cabinets that are vibrant with color.  Many people like a brightly colored kitchen and pick the cabinets to match.   There are cabinets of deep blue or apple red to coordinate with everything else in the kitchen.  Even older cabinets are getting a facelift these days with a splash of color. Painting your cabinets can totally give them a facelift.

Hardware on the cabinets is one more feature that should have some consideration. They can make a major difference on how your kitchen looks. There are multiple options. You can get larger handles that are screwed in with 2 screws.  If your cabinest are large, you should consider the longer style pulls.  Smaller cabinets might look great with smaller pulls or knobs.  Pulls and handles are normally installed in the middle of the drawer and the lower side of the door on the opening edge.  You can choose between knobs and pulls. When using knobs, only 1 screw is used to secure it to the cabinet.  Knobs are smaller and don’t make as much of an impact so are great for some designs.

Cabinet hardware can be had in all different styles and colors. When we recall traditional cabinet pulls we think about bright gold, black or pewter colored hardware. There are a lot of options available today. With the popularity of stainless steel in the kitchen, steel or silver hardware is available. From modern art to whimsical shapes, there are knobs to go with any style kitchen.

Having your kitchen look and feel fantastic is key. Make sure your kitchen is an appealing and comfortable place to be. Your kitchen cabinet design will help give your kitchen an interesting allure.
